As much as possible!!! 🚗✨

As a pediatric OT (and a mom to (almost) 3 who definitely understands the need for convenience), I hate seeing the increase in babies strolling around in their carseats.

I know sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do—life happens, naps happen, and survival mode is real! But whenever you can, please transition baby out!

Car seats are life-saving safety devices designed to restrict movement during a crash. But because they are so restrictive, extended time in them limits head turning, core engagement, and healthy hip positioning. They are “containers” and should absolutely be used the car, but outside of the car should be used sparingly!

The AAP recommends limiting car seat time to no more than 2 hours total within a 24-hour window.

Alternatives+Tips:
✨Use a stroller bassinet attachment for errands so baby can lie flat and freely move
✨Pop baby in a carrier—it keeps your hands free while letting their hips and spine stretch naturally.
✨Or be sure to balance out that time restricted with lots of floor time!

I honestly have some crazy stories about signs!

🤍for my fellow pregnant or postpartum toddler moms

We all know pregnancy already makes you feel less like yourself. So for me, dressing cute just helps. 😅

And with two toddlers to chase around, cute+comfy is a must!

+this is likely my last pregnancy, so let’s dress the bump extra cute, right!?

I’m not sure when we got it confused…

Tummy time became huge in the ‘90s post-“Back to Sleep” campaign to prevent flat heads and motor delays—especially as modern baby gear (bouncers, swings, car seats) started keeping babies on their backs all day long.

It was NEVER meant to be an arbitrary chore you force a crying baby through.

If your baby isn’t constantly stuck in baby containers, they’re already building neck and core strength just by being held, worn in a carrier, or laying chest-to-chest with you.

When a baby cries on the floor, their nervous system hits fight-or-flight (zero motor learning happens there) and their muscles are usually exhausted.

Roll them over, reset, and remember: short, happy moments of movement always beat forcing minutes of distress. ❤️
