Does repositioning actually work for flat spots on babies’ heads? 👶🏼💛

As a pediatric physical therapist, this is a question I get ALL the time!

The answer is YES! 🙌🏼 Repositioning can help improve positional plagiocephaly, especially when started early.

Here are a few things I recommend:

✨ Supervised tummy time while baby is awake

✨ Encouraging your baby to turn their head in both directions

✨ Changing positions frequently throughout the day

✨ Limiting unnecessary time in swings, bouncers, and other containers

✨ Addressing neck tightness or a strong head-turning preference early

But remember, repositioning isn’t always enough on its own! Some babies may benefit from pediatric PT or additional treatment.

💛 Want to monitor your baby’s head shape over time?

Comment HEAD below, and I’ll send you my Amazon affiliate link to SoftSpot, a tool designed to help track head-shape changes!

I may earn a commission from purchases made through my affiliate link.

⚠️ SoftSpot does not replace a medical evaluation. Always place babies on their backs for sleep on a firm, flat surface. Never use pillows or positioning devices during sleep.

🍪 Pumpkin Cloud Cookies 🎃

The best pumpkin cookies you’ll ever eat!

We call these Pumpkin Clouds in my family… soft, fluffy pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth.

It’s my grandma’s old recipe, and if you tell her I posted this on the internet… we’re gonna have words 😂

I used to bake these all the time back in PT school for my friends, and now I make them for my family.

Cozy, nostalgic, and dangerously good.

🎃 Pumpkin Cloud Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

* 3 cups pumpkin purée
* 1 cup softened butter
* 2 cups brown sugar
* 2 tsp vanilla extract
* 4 cups all-purpose flour
* 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
* 2 tsp baking soda
* 2 tsp baking powder
* 1 tsp salt
* 2 tsp cinnamon
* 2 tsp nutmeg

👩🏻‍🍳 Directions

1. Whip softened butter until creamy.
2. Add brown sugar and mix well.
3. Add vanilla + pumpkin; mix again.
4. Add baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
5. Mix in flour, one cup at a time.
6. Fold in chocolate chips.
7. Plop spoonfuls of batter onto a sheet pan… don’t roll them! That’s what keeps them fluffy.
8. Bake at 350°F for 15–20 minutes, until golden brown on the bottom and set on top.

Save this recipe for when you need a little fall comfort ☁️🧡

Listen, I know Crocs are convenient 😂🫣 But for toddlers who are still developing their balance and coordination, a secure-fitting shoe with a flexible sole and good heel retention is typically a better choice for active play!

Crocs aren’t necessarily causing every fall, but footwear is definitely something I’m looking at when a toddler is constantly tripping! 👀
