Today I did something that terrified me:

I told my yoga trapeze community - the one that’s quietly paid every single bill for seven years, the one with waiting lists that run months in advance - that I’m taking August off. Books closed for September. No date for when they reopen.
And let me be clear for a moment: this isn’t me winging it. I’ve got savings behind me, not benefits. Years of doing the sensible thing so one day I could do the brave thing.

Most of you won’t know this: I’d guess 90% of you have no idea I even have a yoga business. Never advertised. Sold out for years, on word of mouth alone, waiting lists for months in advance. So many yoga teachers would kill for what I’ve built - and I am so grateful for that. Genuinely, humbly grateful to every single person who built that with me. And the thing I’m choosing instead - the silent disco sound baths, the work with no name - hasn’t made a penny of profit in 14 months.

Earlier this year I had surgery. I was sick for a long time after. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with a chronic illness - an autoimmune disease, in its advanced stages.

Here’s the truth: the easiest thing I could do right now is nothing. Keep teaching. Keep walking into a room that’s sold out anyway, with a community that doesn’t need me to work for their loyalty. I could coast on this for years without breaking a sweat.

I’m not choosing this because I have no option. I’m choosing it because staying would be the easy thing, and I’m done doing the easy thing.

I’m not a yoga teacher. Not anymore. I dance with people’s shadows. I help them take the leap. I create transformations that don’t sit anywhere on a class timetable. That’s harder to sell, harder to say out loud. But it’s the thing that matters.
So: books closed. No ‘yoga teacher’ mask to hide behind. No plan, really - just the fear, and the faith that there’s room on the other side of it. (and maybe a business to come back to if I need a safety net).

Playing small doesn’t feel safe anymore. Staying small feels like the bigger risk.

I’ve started over before. I’ll do it again.

You coming?

reel* today’s last play in the upside down✨
He’s only pretending to be livid. He bloody loves it. Here’s the beautiful bit…

Cats purr at frequencies of around 25–150 Hz, and some research suggests those lower frequencies may support bone healing, muscle repair and tissue recovery.

So technically…

I’m not being annoying.

I’m participating in a healing session.

(That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.) 🐈‍⬛✨
Can you honestly afford to miss it?

It’s free. Always.

It’s Monday evening (July 27th) at 7pm

If you pop yourself into The Audacity broadcast channel - in my bio - I’ll put the details in there x
