Gabriella Saab's previous book ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ณ ๐˜š๐˜ฐ๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜บ was one of my favourite reads of 2026! So, combine that with a healthy dose of millennial Titanic obsession, and @gabriellasaab_ newest novel, ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜š๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ด ๐˜Ž๐˜ถ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ฅ, held instant and mesmerizing appeal!

๐Ÿ“š ๐—”๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ธ:
We board the Titanic in chapter one, seeing the tragedy of that April 1912 evening through the eyes of Marguerite and Bea -- two women from very different classes. Meeting in the midst of one of the darkest nights of their lives, they're unexpectedly entrusted with the care of a baby. But surviving the sinking is just the beginning of their stories, and upon arrival back in New York, they start a committee to help other survivors, all the while searching for the infant's relatives.

๐Ÿ’ฌ ๐— ๐˜† ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต๐˜๐˜€:
While the actual events on the Titanic felt as if we were moving on 3x speed, I quickly appreciated this author's very different approach to such a well-known historical event. There are hundreds of fictionalized retellings of the Titanic sinking, and so Saab instead chose to focus on the survivors' lives after the sinking. We often recognize the hierarchical class differences for passengers on the Titanic (everything from accommodations to lifeboat priority) but it was very interesting to continue to explore those differences in the days after the tragedy as well.

This book is compelling and beautifully written. #TheSurvivorsGuild also highlighed the number of Lebanese emigrants on board the Titanic -- and I love when authors find new angles of otherwise well-known historical events to explore. (Be sure to give the author's note a read once you finish this book!)

This story is about survival, hope, and resilience set amidst the glittering and gritty backdrop of the Gilded Age. Saab's writing feels like being wrapped in a warm, cozy, historical blanket, and I appreciate the research that goes into her stories. This book has earned itself a permanent spot on my shelf. Many thanks to @booksparks for my gifted copy.

August Wrap Up Time! What was your favourite read of the month? How many books did you finish? ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ˜

I finished ten books this month which is pretty much a record for me this year. (My reading has taken a hit in 2026!) But a few vacation days without kids plus a bunch of quick and cozy, easy reads brought up my average this month.

Austenland by @squeetus Full review to come soon. This was a re-read for me but let me say that this new revised edition is a DELIGHT! If you're reading this one, be sure to grab the updated 2026 version!

It's Not What You Think by @claremackwrites -- She never disappoints and this one GOT ME. I wish I could talk about this one without spoilers but I can't... so just add it to your TBR.

๐Ÿ“š Plus, I finished my next prompt on my Beach Reads challenge "from an author's backlist" -- Dumb Witness by Agatha Christie. Not my favorite Christie but it was good to double dip and finally get back into my Agatha Christie challenge as well!

What about you? Any bookish highlights this month? Favourite reads?
Help a girl out! I need to pick my vacation reads but realistically, only three of these thrillers are fitting in my suitcase.

What's your top 3 picks from this stack?

These have all been waiting to be read for far too long, so it's time to soak up some sun and crush my TBR by the pool.

My choices:

1) Anatomy of an Alibi by @ashleyelston

2) Strangers in the Villa by @rhardingwriter

3) Caller Unknown by @gillianmauthor

4) It's Not What You Think by @claremackwrites

5) She Didn't See it Coming by @sharilapena

6) Falling by @tj_author

7) Parents Weekend by @alexfinlayauthor

Help me pick! And if you haven't read any of these yet, tell me which ones are on your TBR or which ones you'd pick based on title and cover vibes!
