The ladder and stone have caused more drama than the entire kitchen renovation. 😂

So let’s clear a few things up…

The ladder won’t stay out all the time. It’s for reaching seasonal pieces and things we rarely use in the upper cabinets. No step stool. No built-in stools either. They would take up cabinet space and you can’t move them around.

The stone is sealed. We cook almost every meal at home, every day, and haven’t had any issues so far. We wiped down our old tile backsplash maybe twice in 11 years, so I’m starting to wonder what everyone else is cooking. 😂

If we’re making something that splatters, we can use plexiglass or a splatter shield when needed.

We chose this kitchen for how we live, and I’d choose both again. 🤍
