Just me, my picnic blanket, and hundreds of ticks lounging in the tall grass.

I genuinely loath ticks — I’d rather have a spider or cockroach on me than a tick. Since moving out west, I haven’t found any ticks on me (knock on wood), but the few times I went backpacking in the Northeast, I found at least one tick on me. I feel so bad for the wildlife, moose and deer with hundreds of ticks.
