My favorite summer venue! @hollywoodbowl By the time summer ends I will have seen four shows this year and it never gets old. My favorite events are always with @laphil whether it’s a full feature film with a symphony orchestra playing the score live or their shows featuring the music of iconic composers. As a seasoned Hollywood Bowl concert goer here are some tips:

1. Take a shuttle! You can find a full list of pick up locations and purchase tickets on the Hollywood Bowl website. This is by far the easiest and cheapest way to get in and out of the Bowl. I like the one at the LA Zoo.

2. Bring your own food and drink and arrive at least 2 hours early if you want to picnic. It’s equally enjoyable to eat in your seats if you can’t find a spot.

3. There is a separate entrance for AMEX card holders before the main gate that moves very fast and takes you to an exclusive AMEX patio and bar. Use this!

4. AMEX members get free seat pads. They’re only $1 otherwise and very necessary unless you are in a terrace seat.

5. The onsite food is actually pretty good! Suzanne’s Chicken Tender bucket located by the upper decks on Promenade 3 has been my favorite all summer. If you are in a terrace seat you can also order a 3 course gourmet meal (must be done at least a day in advance) to be served before the show.

The season is far from over and in fact some of the best shows are still ahead (John Williams)!

One of my favorite meals this year @ine_losangeles

It takes a lot to wow me but Ine has done it. The menu by Chef Terry Park really stands out for its creativity and execution. It blends Japanese and French ingredients and techniques and the result is avant-garde yet highly satisfying. Think pairings like salmon belly with yuzu mustard and capers, uni with sweet potato and crème fraiche purée and charcoal grilled sea bream with shio kombu beurre blanc. While the flavor combinations seem experimental, they work and are even familiar. Each dish is incredibly well thought out, balanced and restrained.

The vibe is cozy, trendy and quirky. Precisely what one would expect on York Blvd in Highland Park. It’s family owned and operated, and while it has the feel of a neighborhood spot, it’s certainly destination worthy.

Homemade dumplings are the best! But if you don’t have a mom, auntie or friend to make them for you, fear not because Mama Hsu just started selling her own.

First choose your base (pork or chicken), then your vegetable (cabbage or chives) and lastly whether you’d like to add shrimp. You have the option of receiving the dumplings frozen (to prepare later at home, either boiled or pan fried) or freshly boiled. They’re about $2 each and come with her signature soy sesame dipping sauce.

Is this the best weekend brunch in LA? I’d say it’s up there. @manueladtla is serving comforting Southern food with a fresh California twist in a scratch kitchen. The menu is diverse and expansive with everything from buttery biscuits to lentils to French toast and lots of things in between. Their biscuits are a highlight, many say the best in LA. They are crisp on the outside, have delicate flakey layers and are served with delicious house made jam. The cornbread is another highlight. They’re both perfect to share for the table. For brunch I personally like the Popover Benedict, there’s nothing like it in LA. Though the shrimp and grits and steak and eggs are also popular.

The menu changes seasonally and the ingredients are super fresh and locally sourced. Some items as local as their own garden and chicken coop! The ambiance is like a secret garden, with indoor and outdoor vibes, and it is dog friendly. Located in the Hauser Wirth Art Gallery, it is also the perfect spot to spend a weekend afternoon. After brunch I would recommend taking a stroll to enjoy the gardens and exhibits. You’ll definitely need the steps after the carbfest.
