the scariest part of life isn’t failing…

it’s realizing a year from now that you’re in the exact same place because you were too scared to try

so many of us wait until we feel “ready”

but most of the things that changed my life started with me having absolutely no idea if they would work 😭

you will never know the result of something unless you start and you just have to give yourself the chance to even find out

i feel like this is the most asian parent response ever😭😭 i told them i made $14k in 4 days and they basically said “oh nice” and that was it loll

i love them but i think it reminded me how differently we look at what it means to be successful

for them, having a good job, steady income, benefits, and a clear career path is the dream

and honestly, for most of my life, i thought that was supposed to be my dream too

because when your life is “good” on paper, it’s really easy to convince yourself you should just be happy with it

the job isn’t terrible. you’re making decent money. your family is proud of you. there’s no huge reason to change anything.

except that little feeling that keeps asking what your life could look like if you actually gave yourself a chance

sometimes wanting more doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful for what you already have. it just means you’re ready to find out what else is possible 🥹

told my asian parents i made $14k in 4 days and they were basically like “nice” and then we moved on 😭

i love my parents and they’ve always wanted the best for me, but i think we just grew up with different definitions of success

to them, a stable job, good salary, and knowing what your future looks like IS making it

and for a long time, i thought that had to be my definition too

i think a lot of us stay on the “safe” path because nothing is technically wrong. the job is fine. the paycheck is fine. everyone thinks you’re doing well.

but you’re still wondering what would happen if you actually bet on yourself

you don’t need to hate the life you have to want something more 🥹

told my asian parents i made $14k in 4 days and they were basically like “nice” and then we moved on 😭

i love my parents and they’ve always wanted the best for me, but i don’t think building your own business will ever fully compute the same way a stable job, salary, and traditional career does to them

and honestly, i get it. they grew up with a completely different idea of what “making it” looks like

i used to feel like i needed to hit a certain number or accomplish something big enough to prove that choosing a different path was worth it

now i’m realizing part of building a life that looks different from the one you were taught to want is being okay when not everyone fully gets it

they don’t have to understand every part of the dream for me to keep building it 🥹
