I’ve seen the really upsetting comments about breastfeeding in public and I don’t want to respond to hate with more hate. But I do think moments like this are an opportunity to educate and empower. Breastfeeding should never be something a woman is made to feel embarrassed, belittled or ashamed for doing. You are literally feeding your baby.

And yes, breastfeeding can be beautiful and magical, but it can also be unbelievably hard. Tongue ties. Babies who won’t latch. Oversupply. Undersupply. Painful let downs. Cracked and bleeding nipples. Mastitis. Engorgement. Cluster feeding. Sleepless nights. Feeding every hour. Feeling completely touched out. Giving up your body. Women can go through all of that and still keep putting their baby to their breast day and night because they’re just trying to nourish their child.

In my eyes that deserves respect. Not judgement.

Raising a baby is hard enough without women tearing other women down. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, it will always be a man’s world because unfortunately women just tear other women down. For what?! What are we ever gaining from this? We’re fighting for equality whilst also doing the complete opposite. If we all actually empowered each other and stuck together CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW POWERFUL WE’D BE?!

But if seeing a mother breastfeeding her baby makes you uncomfortable, I genuinely think that discomfort is something worth unpacking because at what point is a woman feeding her baby using their breast for the EXACT purpose it was created for uncomfortable? Women’s bodies have been sexualised because society has taught us to see them that way.

So breastfeed in the café, on the train, in the park. Breastfeed at dinner. Breastfeed wherever your baby needs you. You do not need to hide yourself away to make somebody else more comfortable EVER.

I’m proud of every woman raising and feeding her baby, however she chooses to do it. We are all AMAZING! ❤️
