I’ve been waiting all year for this 😈🎃

I thrift for seasonal items all year round. Which means by the time the season finally rolls around, I’ve usually got a small army of amazing finds that I’m ready to roll out. Halloween is one of my favorite seasons to thrift for so I wanted to show you all the items I’ve picked up since last year.

My favorite find is obviously Astrid (Justice for Astrid ✊🏼). Despite Sean thinking her name is Fran (?????) she is the coolest piece I found all year! I bought her in January and have been impatiently waiting for her moment to shine 😍

Always be thrifting for your favorite season! It doesn’t matter what time of year it is. The best fall finds might be found in January, and you’ve gotta be ready when you spot them 👀

What are the credentials to qualify as a library? 😅📚

I really REALLY love old books. I feel like they’re often overlooked and discarded, and what a shame! I think books are magic. Their pages are filled with stories you’ve never heard, quotes you’ve never read, and worlds you’ve never explored. I don’t care if you plan to read it or not, you should always rescue an old book!

I like collecting books that are from circa 1960. I also like books that are cheap - or better yet, free. In fact cheap / free is the most important part of my collection. I like to rescue things that other people don’t see the value of and give them a gentle resting place to live out their days. So many of the books in my collection would have ended up in a landfill if I hadn’t saved them. While I know there is a stigma around having books you haven’t read, I’d so much rather they be gracing my home as decor than be rotting in a landfill. You’ll never convince me the alternative is preferable 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have read some and would love to read more, once I can clone myself and make the day 36 hours long instead of just 24.

All of my books are on display at all times. I have miles of shelf space available and they fill those spots perfectly. I love picking up specific titles that are great for swapping out seasonally for a seat in the spotlight. Spooky books are my favorites to find! But I’m also so partial to a beautiful cover. And I love collecting old books when I’m on vacation as souvenirs! Some of my favorites have come from thrift stores in England and Scotland.

In a world where companies are literally destroying old books right before our eyes - collecting and keeping them is a form of resistance I’ll always be down for 😏
