People tell us we move too fast or invest “too much” into our kids’ ideas.

When my daughter launched @happystitches_us , neither of us knew what we were doing. She made tons of mistakes early on—testing out fabrics, trying different tools, figuring out what worked and what completely ruined a project.

We were 100% okay making those mistakes on our dime. I personally think that’s where the REAL learning happens. I jumped in, started researching materials alongside her, and learned on the fly.

That’s the exact culture we build in our home. Our 8-year-old son’s brain is constantly spinning with his FUTURE business idea, and whenever our kids decide to test a vision, we’re ready to invest.

Some people think we move too fast or spend too much on their business ideas. But we aren’t buying playthings—we’re funding real-world tuition.

I refuse to spend money on endless toys when we can invest in their potential. Once they learn how to execute, adapt, and push past mistakes, they’ll have the power to buy whatever toys—and futures—they want.

I just don’t think you should wait until you’re an expert. Just start and figure it out as you go. 💡🧵

People ask us @jezzyzap and I the time, “How do you guys know so much and always know what to do in business?” 💭

The honest truth? We don’t know everything—and we’re okay with F*#king up.

Everything Jezriel and I know came from stepping into the unknown and figuring it out through real-world hustle. my personal career path was a whole series of learning:

When I got pushed out of my corporate job while on maternity leave, it felt like the ultimate blow. Starting over from zero with a newborn sucked, and it took a lot of trial and error to rebuild.

But looking back, not a single season was wasted.

Every past corporate lesson, design skill, and hard pivot prepared us for this. Now, we get to take all of that lived experience to help mentor, build, and scale my daughter’s brand, @happystitches_us 🧵✨

We don’t have every single answer, but we aren’t afraid to try, fail, pivot, and keep going. Showing Cataleya that it’s okay to make mistakes while building her dream is the best lesson we could ever teach her and my boys.

What felt like getting pushed out was really just God positioning us to build our family’s legacy. 🤍

👇 Have you ever had a major setback force you to step into something better?
That’s the #1 rule in our house. I always encourage my kids to try new things, put their ideas into the world, and see what happens.

My husband and I will gladly sacrifice our weekends to help my dad’s business @luzvimindaskusina and support my daughter’s business @happystitches_us . We even invest our own money into their ideas—as long as they put in the work.

Why? Because starting something from scratch is nerve-wracking.

We’ve had tons of ideas in the past and know how much it sucks when you lack funds and no one wants to take a bet on you. We refuse to let our kids feel that way.

Yes, we get exhausted. Our schedules are completely insane. But whether it’s my daughter running her business, my younger boys pitching their next move, or my 4-year-old just playing and exploring—my family knows one thing without a shadow of a doubt: we got them. 🤍

Who was the first person to take a bet on you in life? (And are you being that person for your kids?)
The phrase I heard a TON growing up… and WHY it’s completely banned in our house today. 🛑👇

Growing up, “We can’t afford that” was the default answer to everything. It taught me that money was a brick wall where the conversation just stopped.

I know I want my kids to have a different financial future. So we replaced that phrase with six simple words

👉 “How can we make this happen?”

This is how we turn that mindset into REAL-world habits

1️⃣ Half of every dollar they receive (Tooth Fairy, Christmas, grandparents) goes straight into their brokerage account. They build the muscle of paying their future selves first.

2️⃣ We don’t just give random handouts. But as long as THEY stay consistent with their half, we make a monthly contribution into their accounts, too. 📈

3️⃣ If they want something and their spending money isn’t enough? It's just NOT in their budget yet, but we sit down, and build a game plan to earn the rest.

I don’t want my kids growing up feeling limited. I want them growing up knowing they have the power, CREATIVITY, and discipline to build whatever future they want. ✨
