An original Wicked Witch hat from The Wizard of Oz is heading to auction with @heritageauctions, along with other rare artifacts from the film! Several hats were created for Margaret Hamilton to wear as the Wicked Witch of the West during production, with Heritage Auctions most recently selling other surviving examples in December 2025 and December 2024. This particular hat is special because it retains its original silk scarf and was originally sold at the 1970 MGM auction. It later went on display at Walt Disney World from 2002 to 2007 and at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures as part of its inaugural exhibition on the film in 2021. Also up for auction is an incredibly rare T-shirt worn during the Wash and Brush Up Co. portion of the Emerald City sequence, as well as a signed portrait of Billie Burke in costume as Glinda.
