backpacking might not be able to fix all of our problems, but it can delay them and that’s good enough for me 🫡🤪🤷🏼‍♀️

the woes of living in a mountain town 😂

If you were to walk in our local grocery store and see the cost of some of these groceries I swear you’d want to vomit as much as I do lol

We are a family of 2 and the only way we can afford groceries is to drive an hour down the mountain to shop at Costco and you guys looooooove these hauls so here ya go!!!

total cost for this run was $550 & this will last us 2 (ish) months. We do supplement fruits and veggies at our local grocery store bc we couldn’t possibly get enough for 2 months without them going bad.

I cannot imagine trying to feed a family in this economy so s/o to all the parents out there making it work!! Rockstars!

HEAVY on that last sentence !!!

I did not grow up in a super outdoorsy family. I grew up being HIGHLY competitive in ball sports and it was DRILLED into my brain to train and strive to be the best, fastest, most athletic person on the field.

So when I moved out west and started to fall in love with all things outdoors it was extremely humbling to start over as a beginner. BUT, it also gave me something to work TOWARDS which in some ways was more fulfilling that already being good?!

I went on my first camping trip at 22
Learned to rock climb at 24
Started snowboarding at 26
And mountain bike at 30

Being mediocre at things means there is always something new to learn, a new trail to try, or a new way to challenge myself. And Ive realized that the goal doesn’t always have to be becoming the best at something. Sometimes the goal can be to get a little better, have fun, and just enjoy the process!!

With ski season coming up (this year has FLOWN by!!), I wanted to encourage anyone who has been thinking about learning to ski or snowboard as an adult to just GO FOR IT.

You are not too old. You didn’t miss your chance because you didn’t grow up doing it. And you definitely don’t have to be good at it to have an absolute blast!!!

One of the biggest things that helped me when I was learning was simply getting as many days on the mountain as I could. That’s why I will ALWAYS recommend getting a season Pass!!

We get the @epicpass which gives us access to 90+ resorts worldwide (3 right here in Tahoe) and having a Pass makes it SO much easier to get days in!!! Go for two hours. Practice the same run 500 times (lol been there). Take a lesson. Meet your friends for a few laps. And now is the perfect time to get your Pass since the lowest price of the fall ends September 7th!

Basically just give yourself as many opportunities as possible to be bad at it and eventually you’ll be less bad bc the more time you spend on the mountain, the more comfortable you’re going to get!!

SO HERE’S YOUR REMINDER THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE GOOD AT SOMETHING TO ENJOY IT!!!
