They’re trainable, stable, eager to please, and generally just brilliant family dogs. German Shepherds are a bit different. They’re incredible dogs, but they usually need a more experienced owner. They’re powerful, sensitive, very intelligent, and they notice everything going on around them. With the wrong guidance they can become a lot to handle, but with the right leadership they’re phenomenal. The other reason is something a bit more personal. I’ve always had a rule that I don’t get the same breed twice in a row. It just helps me feel like I’m not trying to replace a dog that meant a lot to me. Every dog gets their own chapter. So this time I worked with what I genuinely believe is one of the best German Shepherd breeders in the world… and Reggie has turned out to be one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. Different breed, different personality, but an amazing dog all the same.
