It’s melodic, yet busy at the right places. It moves all over the chord changes…but somehow it never gets in the way of the song. George Harrison actually thought Paul’s bass part was a little too busy. Nearly 50 years after my parents played together in a rock band, we stepped into the recording studio together to record a family rock medley and capture our first professional performance as a family. Now, I can finally introduce the world to where I got my musicianship from. My parents were rock ’n’ rollers in the late ’70s and ’80s.🤘 ...they are why I’m a musician. In 1978, my mom, Jean, joined a local Baltimore band called Mars. She married the band’s bassist, my dad, Elliot Freed, in 1980. In 1983, the band changed their name and became Freed At Last. They went on to build a family of five, and one of their three kids followed in their musical footsteps...ME! 😎 I’ve recorded over 1,000 videos throughout my career, and nothing has been more special to me than this one. I know this is a bass channel, but the head of the Freed family, my father, is the “original” bassist. Because of this, I’m putting down the bass and picking up guitar and drums while my parents hold down the fort at what they do best. My parents came from the live music scene. They played bars, clubs, parties, and gigs, but rarely got to experience what it was like to take their music into a professional studio and capture it like this. I wanted to give them that experience. And now we get to preserve it... forever. ❤️ So we went into the studio and recorded four songs from different eras of their musical lives as one continuous medley. 🎸 01 — “Heartbreaker” - Pat Benatar 🎸 02 — “Beds Are Burning” - Midnight Oil 🎸 03 — “Find Another Fool” - Quarterflash 🎸 04 — “One Eyed Bastard” - Green Day The old footage you see in this video is real footage of my parents and their bands from decades ago.
