At 47, I have a toddler and a teen - my husband is 54…

Our son was born when I was 34, conceived naturally. But a whole ten years passed before I decided we were ready for another.

Here’s why -

Right after my son turned one, I launched a business, and it took everything out of me.

All the energy and time I could have given to another baby went straight into my business.

I did end up selling it right after I turned 40, but at that point, I figured my chance to grow our family was over.

Then, right before I turned 44, I came across an article that flipped a switch in me. It laid out all the different ways women in their 40s and even 50s are growing their families now, and some of them were things I hadn’t even dreamed were possible.

So for a minute, I thought maybe it wasn’t too late… I called my husband into the room where I had been reading, and I asked him if he ever still thought about having another baby.

He said yes before I could even finish my full question.

And the rest is history - We went to a fertility doctor and did everything they prescribed, the full enchilada. And right before I turned 46, I gave birth to our daughter.

I know this isn’t everyone’s path, but there are so many reasons a woman ends up having a baby or growing her family in her 40s or even 50s. And no two stories are alike.

Whether having a baby later is your plan a, b, or even c…

I’m 47 with a toddler and a teen, and my husband is 54.

We’re a true age gap family, and we wouldn’t trade our kids for anything.

We realize it’s not a lifestyle that everyone would choose, but it’s the one we chose.

my story; We had our son naturally at 34. Less than two years later, I started a business and grew it, and I just didn’t have the bandwidth or the energy to think about adding to our family at that time.

By the time I was 40, I worried and wondered if it was too late. I basically wrote it off, even though my husband never stopped hoping or asking.

Then at 44, I read an article about women in their 40s and even 50s having babies with the help of modern medicine and fertility treatments.

It hit like a lightning bolt, and my heart opened instantly. I asked my husband if he still wanted another child.

He was 51 at the time, and before I could even finish the question, he said yes.

😲 And now, are we thinking about a third? It sounds crazy. Some days I think I am crazy for even contemplating it. But the truth is, we have embryos left, and I just can’t seem to let them go.

My heart and my mind say let’s give it a go, but my body and my bandwidth are dragging me down a bit.

🩵 If this came across your feed, you might be a mom, or a woman, or a hopeful mom-to-be who worried she was past her prime but is showing herself and the world that it’s not too late to have the family of your dreams.

A 3rd at 48? 🙈

🩵 bold or bananas? Tell me in the comments

The truth is, we are going to be 48 and 55 next year and can’t decide if that’s too old, once and for all, to try transferring some of the embryos we have left. We have a 1 year old and our 13 year old.

Having her took a lot out of me and I wonder if my body has more to give.

The younger moms at pickup may not get it. Somebody probably thinks you’re a little crazy for wanting this now. You’re not.

You just haven’t met the rest of us yet. If this found its way into your algorithm, you’re probably in the right place.

#OneADayPartner I’m 47 with a toddler and a teen, and today we learned how to make breakfast.

🫐Creating a legacy of family health sounds intimidating. But it starts somewhere simple. Protein pancakes, fresh fruit, and all three of us in the kitchen together — because I realized I never really taught my son how to cook, and I want to fix that and create more memories.

These are the habits I want them to carry forward. And while I’m building healthy habits for them, I’m not forgetting myself — One A Day® Women’s Gummies has key nutrients to support my immune health and energy metabolism*.

Simple moments are better when I’m showing up for them fully. I grabbed these limited edition Luke Bryan bottles exclusively at Walmart. Grab yours while they last! @walmart @oneaday_us #CelebratingCountry #ad
