As I’m sitting here, remembering the incredible life and legacy of Dolly Parton, this quote feels even more meaningful. She reminded us that life isn’t just about working, earning, and collecting things. At the end of the day, it’s about living a life true to yourself, making time for the people you love, and chasing the experiences that set your soul on fire.

Life is too short to always wait for the “right time.” For me, that’s why I will always prioritize experiences over things. I want to see the places, try something new, and collect moments that make me feel grateful to be alive.

And some moments feel almost too beautiful to be real... 🏝️like sitting at one of these epic tables right in the ocean at Havaiki Lodge, enjoying lunch with your feet in crystal-clear water, surrounded by the beauty of Fakarava, French Polynesia. On this remote island, time seems to slow down and you can’t help but look around and think, this is what making a life is all about!

So in honor of Dolly, may we remember to work hard, dream big, love deeply, and never get so busy making a living that we forget to make a life 🤍

The Execution of Lady Jane Grey was painted by Paul Delaroche in 1833 and is now in the National Gallery in London.

Jane is referred to as the “Nine Days’ Queen” due to the brevity of her reign as queen of England for only 9 days when Mary Tudor, who was Catholic, claimed the throne.

Jane, a Protestant, was held prisoner in the Tower of London for seven months, and in November 1553, she was convicted of treason. Mary originally spared her life but Jane soon became viewed as a threat to the throne. Jane and her husband were both executed by beheading in February 1554 at the Tower of London. At the time of her execution, Jane was just 17 years old.

The painting depicts Jane’s last moments and it truly is a devastating, yet incredibly captivating piece. In person, Jane looks like she is glowing. The straw looks so soft yet is ominous as it foreshadows what is to come. Her hands seem as though they are reaching out of the painting. I love how it tells a story and honors Jane in a way, as many come to the National Gallery just to see her 🥹

Jane recited Psalm 51 and handed her gloves to her maids, shown fainting and turning away in the painting. The executioner asked her for forgiveness. She was blindfolded and then realized she could not find the block with her hands.

She then reached out for the block and cried, “What shall I do? Where is it?” 😭 The Deputy Lieutenant of the Tower, Sir Thomas Brydges, helped to guide her hands to the block as shown in the painting. I can’t imagine how terrified she must have been even though she was so brave.

Is seeing this painting on your London bucket list??

how to visit the BLUEST waterfall ever👇💦

Our guide told us the locals say that Rio Celeste got its stunning electric blue color because when God was painting the sky he dipped his brush in the river. The color occurs due to minerals coated in silicon, oxygen, and aluminum being suspended in the water…when sunlight passes through, it creates the vivid blue color we see 🤩

👉There are no buses that drive to the park so I recommend booking a tour that gets there early like the @getyourguide tour “from La Fortuna: Rio Celeste Full- Day Tour”

👉if you want to drive yourself, beware of dirt/gravel roads with pot holes. Parking is cash only and entrance fee of $12/adult and $5/child under 12 is credit card only. The park opens at 8 AM and closes at 4 PM (must enter by 2 PM).

👉You cannot bring any food or plastic or sprays inside the park. Bags will be checked. No strollers or pets allowed.

👉Our guide pointed out snakes, monkeys, a tapir & toucans, that we would’ve missed otherwise. He also offered to take photos/videos.

👉The hike total is around 3.7 miles (don’t miss the blue lagoon and Tenideros to see where the two rivers meet).

👉It is very hot and humid in the forest. Wear comfortable, breathable clothing. Wear closed-toe shoes, watch your step and never grab branches or trees without looking first. We saw many poisonous frogs and vipers.

NOTE: In 2025, a landslide damaged the lower stairs & viewing area, so section is closed for safety. You can still hike to the waterfall but you can’t descend to the base as shown here. It’s still absolutely worth seeing though!
