Speaking from my own experience as a new build owner, I’ve watched neighbours prioritise paved space over plants over and over again.

Whilst paved space has a place in the garden it shouldn’t be all the garden is. Firstly, I think people are keen to get somewhere to sit when the sun comes out - great, but do you really want to just stare at the grass and fences? Probably not.

But secondly, we have a huge opportunity in these tiny spaces to make a big impact on our wildlife. To provide nectar to the bees, food for birds and create havens.

It doesn’t have to be perfect, or all happen at once. Even a small bed full of plants + a couple of trees can make all the difference.

Hi my name is Allie & I want to help you make the most of your new build garden 👋 follow along for the advice you didn’t even realise was available ♥️ #newbuildgarden #gardentransformation

Anyone else felt a huge pressure to get *everything* done in the garden at once?

I’m here to tell you that actually, maybe it’s better if you do it slowly, in stages, over the years. It isn’t a room in a house that needs a lick of paint, it’s a space that needs time to mature.

I think we’re all so used to seeing entire transformations on the internet that we forget that it’s okay to take our time in some spaces 🫶🌱

Anyway, hi my name is Allie and I talk about how to create gardens you love, by understanding your garden fully - not just what plants look pretty ♥️ join in if you fancy! #newbuildgarden #gardeningforbeginners #gardentransformation

Because if we’re really honest, did the ideas that excited you still excite you right now? 👀

I think in the day and age of this online life we’ve become accustomed to everything being ✨instant transformation✨ but actually, it’s good, if not better to take your time with the garden.

Do sections each year, tweak your overall plan. Change things. Learn, grow! Every moment you’re out in the garden you’re learning something, and you can keep taking that experience and knowledge forward ♥️

Anyone else working in stages? #newbuildgarden #gardeningforbeginners #gardentransformation

Being online has taught us that everything is an instant transformation, but the garden serves as this incredible purpose to slow down & enjoy the process.

I think, especially with new build gardens we see a blank slate and either get overwhelmed and ignore it or rush to make a complete decision in one go.

Gardens grow, and so does your ideas, and knowledge. So maybe it’s time to remember doing things in stages is normal and a good thing.

Anyway, hi I’m Allie and I talk about new build gardens & share my horticultural knowledge on a practical level 👋 come and join me! #newbuildgarden #gardeningforbeginners #gardentransformation
