It started out as a hobby, I only created my channel because you couldn’t post videos longer than 15 seconds on instagram and I wanted a place to post song covers… somehow we’re here 10 years later. The internet was the only place I could be Noah but as my channel grew, the fear of being outed at school only got worse. I kept at it though, the necessity of being here outweighed the risk. When I finished school I didn’t have a plan other than “keep posting videos and see what happens”, luckily it worked. I went from having a shitty manager who took advantage of my inexperience to meeting with @freefocusmgmt who completely changed my life. I didn’t believe in myself in the slightest but they did and they really gave me the push I needed to keep pursuing what I knew I always wanted. Fast forward to the pandemic in 2020 and I get contacted by the record label ( @hopelessrecords ) who had signed all my favourite bands. It turns out that they’d seen my songs and the community that I’d built and wanted to sign me… which was… an insanely huge risk for them at the time. I had only ever finished 5-6 songs, I’d never played a gig before and I was scared to sing in front of anyone. I managed. Last year was one of the worst years of my life. I didn’t want to be perceived, I stopped posting and I was scared of leaving the house. My channel was doing terribly, I was physically incapable of having a head clear enough to write and I honestly wished I could just disappear. It felt like I’d sabotaged myself completely, that you guys had lost interest and that I’d never recover, thank you for proving me wrong. 541 videos, 6 UK tours, 3 US tours, 10+ festivals, 2 EP’s, an album, an ADHD diagnosis, an autism diagnosis and a lot of therapy later; I’m finally in a position where I can say that I’m supposed to be here. So many of you feel like old friends, none of this could have happened without you. Thank you for sticking around.
