If you’re a smoked meat lover, you need to head to OchSmoke, based at @stockbrook_farm_shop in Stock (near Billericay) 🍖🔥

OchSmoke is a family run business serving up some of the best smoked and BBQ meats around Essex.

We tried the smoked pork belly bites box (£12), which came with homemade coleslaw, perfectly seasoned potato wedges, and a topping of crispy onions which was delicious!

The real star of the show, though, was the mixed smoked BBQ platter (£20). It was absolutely huge and included ox cheeks, pork belly bites, and ribs, all served with coleslaw and potato wedges. It’s the perfect option if you want to try a bit of everything. Everything was delicious, but the ox cheeks were my favourite...they literally fell apart 🤤

There’s free parking, indoor and outdoor seating, and once you’re done eating you can pop into the farm shop for a browse.

ad 🎄I had the best night at one of @dogandpickle festive parties!

For just £37.50, you can enjoy a delicious two course meal, with the option to upgrade to bottomless beer, wine or prosecco for an additional cost. If bottomless isn’t your thing, treat yourself to a christmas cocktail or mocktail 🍸

The evening also includes a DJ throughout the night, so once dinners done you can head straight to the dance floor 💃

What we ordered:

For starters, we had the butternut squash soup, which was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, served with soft, warm focaccia. We also tried the thai spiced fish cake, which had just the right level of heat for me… and yes, I definitely pinched some of Len’s focaccia to mop up the sauce.

For mains, I had to order the roast. If you’ve been to The Dog & Pickle before, you’ll already know how incredible their roasts are. Perfectly crispy and fluffy potatoes, succulent meat, plenty of gravy, and a yorkshire pudding the size of my head! The portion sizes were so generous I couldn’t finish it all.

We also ordered the bass fillet with champagne velouté, served with mussels and samphire, which was just as stunning to look at as it was to eat. We also ordered truffle mash potato to have on the side which was soo good!

Desserts aren’t included on the festive menu, but even though I was full, I couldn’t resist the white chocolate bread & butter pudding. We shared it… and I instantly regretted not ordering one all to myself 😄 It was that good!

If you can’t get booked in before Christmas, make visiting The Dog & Pickle a 2026 goal.

The food, the atmosphere, and the staff are all amazing. You won’t be disappointed.
