I was recently looking through one of my mother-in-law’s old photo albums, and it made me a little sad realizing how rarely I actually print our photos.

So I decided to get three birds with one stone.

One, I’ve been looking for a cheap and easy way to transition our house with the seasons. I’m never going to be an all-out seasonal decorator, but I like having something small that marks the change.

Two, I wanted to give our old photos new life. I have YEARS of memories sitting on my phone that my kids have either never seen, happened before they were born, or happened when they were too little to remember.

And three, I want more family traditions, but I know myself well enough to know they have to be LOW LIFT. We actually don’t have a ton of traditions because I don’t want to create a giant list of things I’m responsible for keeping up with every year.

I want traditions that feel a little more like the ones we grew up with in the 90s. Simple enough that you actually keep doing them, but meaningful enough that your kids remember them.

So I printed photos for every month of the year. They can be from any year, they just have to have been taken during that month. On the first of each month, we switch the frames and get to reveal old memories together.

Honestly, my original plan was to do ONE photo frame, but then I found two matching frames at the store, so that’s literally how we ended up with two photos every month.

I printed the entire year at once and keep the photos right next to the frames, so from here on out, switching them takes me about two minutes a month.
