We installed the Unifi NVR instant paired with the G6 Dome cameras . We choose this set up to be installed indoors into Pixel Lx HQ . Like all unifi kit it’s well packaged and has a high quality feel about it . Based on the requirements for the office we selected the NVR instant as we only needed 6 cameras . The NVR is capable of handling 6 cameras at 4K . It’s only has 6 Poe outlet ports on the NVR although you can have up to 15 cameras on this unit . The additional cameras would have to be added via a Poe switch . The G6 cameras do have Advanced AI analytics — object detection, improved person/vehicle detection (via the UniFi Protect interface . We downloaded the unifi protect app from the App Store directly onto the Mac for video management which worked perfectly . For a small business or home solution the NVR instant is perfect . it’s great value . We specified a 8 TB HDD for this set up with 6 domes to guarantee enough recording storage . In this particular installation we didn’t require the back boxes which are sound £50 each .We were able to drill enough to slot the RJ45 connector into the wall and the rest of the cameras fitted cleanly on the cable tray . Years ago , larger luxury homes ,and other buildings like hotels and museums were designed and built with a cable infrastructure using older Coaxial cable for CCTV . Coaxial cable worked well for old analogue cameras and even more recent cameras like HD power over coax cameras from @hikvision but is becoming outdated . The Newer preferred technology for high performance CCTV Is now IP. IP ( internet protocol) cameras stream data directly, often to a Network Video Recorder (NVR) or the cloud, providing superior image quality solid , reliable detection and notification. IP cameras also allow for features like Audio and two way communication via the camera itself . Most of the larger luxury homes that we work, on that have the older coaxial cable built into the home don’t allow for new cables to be installed. This is mainly due to the fact that the client owners do not want new cabling installed on to the property as they want to keep the property faces cable free . As the homes were built with the cabling in the homes build ,this means that the cabling is completely hidden and the camera is very often in the best possible position. Another factor is that with a large property the systems are often large to. This would mean installing a lot of cabling installed in and on to the property . Now as many of you would know if you have followed us for a while that we are among the best when it comes to installing cables neatly. But as good as we are ,we would never be able to install as clean as if the home was built with the cables by design. In cases where a property has existing coaxial cable built into the build and it is not a viable option to install new cabling , we have the option to use a IP over coax converter . In this case we used @veracityglobal converters . These converters will transmit POE ( power over Ethernet ) and data over a single coaxial cable . This means we can use old legacy cabling with the latest IP cameras .
