giving myself a 90s motherhood, one homemade pizza lunchable at a time 🍕

naan, pepperoni, mozzarella, sauce, all from Aldi because that’s just where my cart already was. literally took 5 mins to throw together and K thinks it’s the best thing ever (asked for it the very next day lol).

I’m not anti-information, actually quite the opposite. i just think we’re carrying a lot our moms never had to. so this is me putting a little of it down.

every wife has heard it: “just tell me what to do.” and for a long time it used to make me want to scream a little.

it took me way too long to figure this out, but when i finally did, i stopped being annoyed by the question and started using it.

caveat: this isn’t for the husband who never lifts a finger unless assigned. that’s a different post.

this is for the higher effort man who actually wants to help but keeps guessing wrong or maybe is just afraid of guessing wrong and doing things that don’t actually move the needle. mine’s like that. he doesn’t want five vague hints. he wants a clear job he can knock out of the park. SO GIVE HIM ONE.

skip the tasks (those just come back to you). ask for full ownership instead. a few ideas below: 👇🏾

🚽“take every toilet in this house off my list. forever.”

🍛“own dinner twice a week. plan it, add ingredients to our list, schedule it, cook it, don’t ask me what we’re having.”

🗑️“you’re on trash and recycling for life, no reminders.”

🛁“bedtime is yours two nights a week. bath, books, lights out, I’ll come in for snugs & kisses when it’s done”

📆“plan date night once a month, completely blind to me.”

🛍️“you’re in charge of the pile of returns by the door. i don’t want to hear about it again until it’s gone.”

✅“I need you to handle (name a dreaded errand you’ve been avoiding) this month”

moral of the story, if he’s asking what you want of him, give him the man the benefit of the doubt (and a job).
