#ad Back-to-school shopping for FOUR kids is no joke. 😅 Between school supplies, sports, groceries, and everything else that comes with getting ready for a new school year, the spending adds up FAST.
This year, we’re using @raiserightfundraising to turn some of that everyday spending into fundraising for our school/team.
Before I check out, I can buy a gift card for the store I’m already shopping at through RaiseRight, use it right from the app, and a percentage goes back to support our organization. No selling products, no door-to-door, and no asking friends and family to buy things they don’t need.
If your school or team fundraises, this is definitely one to look into before you start your back-to-school shopping. You might as well make the shopping you’re already doing count. 🙌
My kids aren’t going to remember whether the laundry was folded or if the kitchen was spotless. They aren’t going to remember whether I made a gourmet dinner or served chicken nuggets.
What they will remember is whether home felt joyful. Whether their mom was usually too stressed to enjoy the little moments or willing to embrace the chaos and make memories anyway.
Here are a few ways I’m choosing memories over perfection:
✨ Bricking my phone. Let’s face it. If we aren’t intentionally creating boundaries with our phones, they’re probably taking more of our attention than we’d like.
✨ Taking the picture anyway. Messy hair, mismatched outfits, ice cream on faces... those memories are still worth capturing.
✨ Leaving the mess until after bedtime. The dishes will still be there after we play the game, take the bike ride, or watch the sunset.
✨ Sitting down while my kids play instead of multitasking. When my kids are entertained, it’s my instinct to get something done. But recently I’ve been trying to just be with them. Watch them play soccer or read on the couch next to them.
✨ Lowering the bar for dinner on busy nights. A simple meal around the table beats a stressed-out mom trying to make everything from scratch.
✨ Doing one “yes” every day. Reading one more chapter, staying at the beach a little longer, jumping on the trampoline, or joining the backyard soccer game.
✨ Remembering that a happy childhood doesn’t require a perfect home.
I don’t know if this makes me a Type B mom, a Type C mom, or just a fun mom. 😂
All I know is the dishes will still be there when we get home, but my kids won’t always be this little!
So I’m choosing the memories over productivity and I have zero regrets. 🏖️☀️
