Are the kids crammed?” “Does it feel chaotic with five people?” “One bathroom?! Yikes…..”

Since moving our family of five back to NYC and downsizing by over 1,000 sq. ft., I’ve gotten sooo many questions about what our day-to-day actually looks like.

We’ve had so much fun sharing the design process of turning this apartment into our home, ( and still have SO much to do) but one thing I’ve focused on heavily is function before aesthetics. You can make any room look pretty, but in New York, every inch really has to serve a purpose especially with kids.

This video is such a good example of why. When your space is designed around how your family actually lives, the whole day just flows better.

Our apartment is smaller, but it genuinely doesn’t feel cramped to us because almost everything has a purpose and a system behind it.

And this was only about 3 hours of our day. There’s still so much I could show you, playroom/homeschool weekend resets, meal prep, how I organize our weeks without childcare or family nearby… all of it.

We’re still figuring things out as we go, but I’m having so much fun sharing what downsizing and raising three kids in NYC actually looks like.

There are so many things women are told once we become mothers….

You can’t have kids and live in the city.
You can’t have kids and still chase your dreams.
You can’t have a career, big aspirations, a full life outside of motherhood, and still be an incredible mom.

I call BS..

Motherhood is multifaceted, WE are multifaceted…

I can pour into my children and still pour into myself.
I can build a career and build a beautiful childhood for them.
I can have dreams that belong to me while raising three little people I hope are proud to watch their mom go after hers.

Moving our family of five back to NYC was one of those dreams..

Hosting my first community event here today was another…

So these flowers aren’t just for me…

They’re for every mom building something, starting over, changing her mind, chasing the dream, choosing herself again, or refusing to believe motherhood has to make her smaller.

Coming back to the city where my motherhood journey started and getting to bring the community I’ve built online into a room together in real life felt full circle in a way I’m still processing….

When I started sharing my life here in 2019/2020, I was simply looking for connection during a time when so many of us felt disconnected during the pandemic. I had no idea what that little corner of the internet would become. More than 250K (across platforms )of you later, this platform has grown into something so much bigger than I could have imagined.

And today felt like alignment…

There was a season when I knew I wasn’t where I was supposed to be. Things felt off. I wasn’t happy. And I’ve learned that sometimes choosing yourself as a mother means being willing to change the life around you, too.

Coming back to NYC has been that for me.

Today, I got to host my first NYC parent community event, hug so many of you, watch our kids play together, and see this community exist beyond a screen.

To everyone who has been here since the beginning, and everyone who just found me a few months ago: thank you. And to every person who came out today, thank you for showing up, connecting, and making this first event so special.

Today was another reminder that choosing your happiness as a mom matters. Because when you start pouring back into yourself, you might be surprised by what you’re able to build around you. 🥹
